Tornio is where one of Finland’s most iconic beer brands was born.

From the early 1960s, our local brew became part of national culture — a small northern brewery creating something that grew far beyond its hometown. Then global ownership arrived. Brewing in Tornio stopped. Production was moved south, and something essential was lost: authenticity.

We brought it back.

Within a couple of years, Tornio Brewery was revived through crowdfunding and local determination — brewing returned to the place where it first had began in 1873. Leo Andelin, the master brewer behind the original breakthrough lager, joined the revival and passed the recipe on to a new generation. The beer that once made Tornio famous was restored where it belongs.

In 2024, it was awarded World’s Best International Lager at the World Beer Awards. It sounds like a fairytale. It isn’t. It’s simply a brewery reclaiming its roots — and moving forward.
